Rushden Town Council has set up this page in order to help signpost the local community, to local and national help/advice in response to COVID-19 (Coronavirus). We will be updating this page regularly, as and when new information comes in.

Local Community Support Groups and Services

Helping Out Higham and Rushden - a 500 strong, volunteer group set up as a response to the Coronavirus: This group is for community members to come together and help those in vulnerable positions: Shopping, Dog Walking, collecting prescriptions and running local errands. If you are in need of assistance, then please contact them via Facebook or email. If you are willing to volunteer your time and help others, then please get in touch with them through their Facebook or email below.

Delivering in Rushden and Higham - a one stop shop for local delivery services Many local businesses are doing their very best to keep serving the community of Rushden and Higham Ferrers during the uncertainty of the Coronavirus outbreak. While their doors may be closing to help keep customers safe, many are offering delivery and collection services, which could really help at a time when we're all being encouraged to take part in some social distancing. If you are offering a delivery/collection service or any other service that you feel may help out the local community during this time, please contact them via their Facebook page below.

The Swivel Club - providing a service free of charge which will include shopping etc Monday - Friday for those who are isolated in their homes during this period of Covid-19. The number to call is 01933 270646 and ask for Carol, between the hours 10am-6pm.

The food bank have recently appealed for donations and 'bag for life' carrier bags so that they can continue to provide food packages to those in need.

COVID-19 Rushden & Higham Lockdown Group - If you need some help in this tough time, you can use this group to reach out. For example if your struggling for food or need a lift to the Doctors.

East Northamptonshire Council - Help with Council Tax Payments

To help residents who have been financially affected by the coronavirus pandemic, ENC is offering the opportunity to stretch Council Tax payments over a 12 month period, rather than the normal 10 months.

If you would like to apply for this, please email, but please note that due to the high volume of interest, a reply may take up to and over 14 days. If you know anyone not on email, please ask them to call 01832 742000, but anyone with access to email should apply this way to free up their phones for anyone not online.
