Friends Of Rushden Hall Community Group

Rushden Town Council has launched the Friends Of Rushden Hall Community Group to provide a comfortable space for the residents of the town to socialise.
The free Group runs on Friday afternoons at Rushden Hall, providing a welcoming space for visitors to socialise whilst enjoying activities such as bingo, and table-top board games, along with complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits. The Rushden Yarn Bomber also gather regularly to discuss ongoing projects and any new members are always very welcome.
The group meets at Rushden Hall will continue to be held on Friday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm until further notice.
There is no requirement to meet any criteria and it is totally free for all residents of Rushden.

Handpainted vintage bowl upcycling workshop

Upcycling is the perfect way to create sustainable, unique pieces for your home or presents for friends and what better way to start than with a beautiful, vintage wooden bowl.
Learn how to create smooth, colourful, clean geometric designs onto a vintage wooden bowl in the surroundings of my garden workshop (NN10 6DQ).
You don't need to have any previous experience of painting or upcycling, this is the perfect way to create something unique and spend time relaxing, enjoying time with friends or just taking some time out for yourself.
Workshops will be hosted by me, Amy a professional upcycler, where I'll share my tips on choosing colours, how to create your design and getting a crisp, clean finish you'll be desperate to show off!
Includes -
- all materials
- your choice of vintage wooden bowl from my collection
- tea, coffee, refreshments and a light lunch
- lovely, garden workshop space
Come and immerse yourself in the creativity of Pinkyswifts and take home your very own made gorgeous bowl.
Sarah really enjoyed herself: 'What a fantastic experience!! It was a treat to stop and be able to create a bowl that I would have happily bought if I saw it in a shop - this was a shock as I'm not very creative. Amy is such a great teacher and on top of this was lovely food, laughter and time for me. Well worth it xx'

Please note, access is through our home so there are a number of steps and the workshop is at the bottom of our garden. Unfortunately it is not suitable for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility.
I can also be booked to come to an event you're hosting - hen do, birthday party etc.

Workshops are non-refundable if you are unable to attend and we can't fill your place. If you can't attend for any reason, please let us know as soon as possible.
A 10% admin fee will be charged for any refund given.

Soap Box Derby

RUSHDEN'S SOAP BOX DERBY 2023
Rushden Town Council are really pleased to announce that it will be running the annual Soap Box Derby in Hall Park, again this year. A firm family favourite, the event hopes to attract entries from around the area.
A spokesman for Rushden Town Council said 'this is a prime opportunity for families and friends to come together and get involved in a great outdoor team building activity culminating in a thrilling fun-filled day for all ages".

- Open to all ages from 6 years old
- Superb trophies to be won and cash prizes
- Variety of Stalls plus a Fire Engine, Bouncy Castles, Pig Roast
This year marks 10 yrs. since the first soap box derby was held in the town in 2013
The event will be held on Sunday 4th June, 2023 and all competitors must arrive in the pits by 12.30pm. Judging starts at 1.30 pm, the first race starts at 2 pm. There are 3 entry classes: Ages 6 - 11 years, 12 - 16 years, 17 years and over. In addition to the trophies, £25, £10 & £5 cash prizes will be awarded for the first three in each class along with Goody Bags and trophies. There will also an award for the most innovative, craziest design.
Entries are needed now open so time to complete your design and send off an entry! Time to apply and start building!
