Located on the corner of Cromwell Road and Queen Street, The 'King Eddie' as it's known to most, has been empty for several years.Greg Cunnington and Billy Boddington, two local businessmen have taken over the lease and undertaken an impressive refurbishment to create a family pub with modern interiors, offering pub food in the day and Thai dishes in the evenings. As well as an outdoor area, the pub boasts a pool table, TVs, comfy seating areas and a side bar for darts and a retro computer games machine.

The Mayor made these comments about her visit, "Having met the team behind this venture and the pleasure of opening this lovely new watering hole, I really hope this is a success. If that success is measured on the hard work and effort put in, the 'New' King Edward will be with us for a long time.
