Commonwealth Day 2022

Town Mayor, Cllr Melanie Coleman was joined at the Garden of Remembrance on Monday 14th March by fellow Councillors, staff and members of the community for a short service to celebrate Commonwealth Day 2022 as the flag was raised.

The Mayor made these comments, "Commonwealth Day is a very significant occasion, especially given that 2022 is Her Majesty The Queen's Jubilee Year with a special focus on the role service plays in the lives of people and communities across the Commonwealth."

The theme for Commonwealth Day 2022 centred around the theme for the forthcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting – 'Delivering a Common Future' – which highlights how the 54 member countries in the Commonwealth family are 'innovating, connecting and transforming' to help achieve goals like fighting climate change, promoting good governance and boosting trade.
