Mayor's Special Award

Mayor's Special Award

On Tuesday 25th March 2025 the Town Mayor, Cllr David Coleman, presented The Pemberton Centre in Rushden with the Mayor's Special Award in recognition of their outstanding actions.

Last August Timothy Sams was finishing off his usual gym work when he stepped off the treadmill and collapsed. Tim did not remember much about what had happened until 2 days later. Tim had suffered a cardiac arrest. Tim said "I have the people at the Pemberton Centre in Rushden to thank for saving my life".

The Pemberton Centre Duty Manager, Amy, and other members of staff took turns in doing CPR and using a defibrillator several times until the paramedics arrived and Tim was transferred to an air ambulance and taken to Kettering General Hospital.

Fortunately for Tim all concerned were CPR and defibrillator trained and even though they broke 7 of his ribs, they did an excellent job. Hence this is why Tim is able to tell his story.

I think we can all agree The Pemberton Centre are truly deserving of the Mayor's Special Award.
