Crafted by the people of Rushden, this remarkable display depicts the troops' landing on the beaches on that historic day.

On Sunday, Rushden Town Council hosted it's 10th Soap Box Derby at Hall Park and a spectacular day was enjoyed by all.

Lots of cheering and plenty of smiles pushed the carts along. Teams had pulled out all the stops to create ingenious designs, a far cry from the humble soap box on wheels.

D-Day80 War Memorial Service

Commemorating D-Day80 Today

On the anniversary of D-Day 80, we honour the brave heroes who fought on this historic day.

This morning, at 8am, a ceremony was conducted at the Rushden War Memorial where Cllr. David Coleman, Rushden Town Mayor, read the D-Day 80 Proclamation and lit the peace lantern.

Wreaths were laid by many military organisations based within the town.

A two-minute silence was observed...
