Parks, Open Spaces and Play Areas

Parks, Green Spaces and Play Areas
Rushden is home to four major parks—Hall Park, Spencer Park, Jubilee Park, and Melloway Park—alongside over thirty play areas and twenty open spaces, all meticulously maintained by the Rushden Town Council.
Hall Park is the largest, spanning 34 acres (13 hectares). Established for public use in 1931, it features a walled garden and houses Rushden Hall, a 14th-century building that is the town's oldest domestic structure.
Spencer Park offers diverse amenities, including four tarmac tennis courts, a multi-use games area, a children's play area, and sports fields suitable for football and rugby. The park also provides a pavilion with changing facilities, enhancing its appeal to sports enthusiasts.
Jubilee Park caters to various interests with its concrete skatepark—featuring a bowl, plaza, and jump ramp sections suitable for skateboarders and BMX riders—football and rugby pitches, and a children's play area.
Melloway Park, while smaller, offers open green spaces ideal for leisure and recreational activities, contributing to Rushden's rich tapestry of outdoor environments.
The town's commitment to maintaining these parks and open spaces ensures that residents and visitors alike can enjoy a variety of recreational activities, from leisurely walks to organised sports, all within the serene settings that Rushden's parklands provide.
As well as being a vibrant and bustling town, Rushden boasts acres of open space and green parks. It is well connected to the surrounding area and the beautiful Nene Valley countryside, whether by road, on foot, or by bicycle via the Greenway.
Rushden Town Council is responsible for the maintenance and management of the town's parks, play areas, and open spaces. This includes four major parks, over thirty play areas, and twenty open spaces.
Providing safe and attractive parks and open spaces is a key priority. The Council remains committed to an ongoing programme of repairs, maintenance, and improvements to ensure these spaces remain enjoyable for all.
The Council has its own in-house inspection and maintenance team for play areas, while routine maintenance for parks, open spaces, and the cemetery is carried out by our grounds maintenance contractor, Turney Landscapes.
